About Production

Broken Measures is truly a labor of love that took a small village. After being notified that the script would not move to the final round of Tyler Perry’s Dream Collective Competition, the director turned rejection into an opportunity. He quickly put a plan (and a micro-budget) together to make this film a reality. The ‘solo-filmaking’ skills of Christoper LaMark allowed him to film with just a 2 person crew which allowed him to move fast but with accuracy. “There were days where we had around 3 people helping on set but it was never more than that,” says the directer.

The 9-Day shoot featured locations around the Houston area including Lee College Performing Arts Center and Garb’s Automotive Shop in Baytown, Texas. Both locations had never been used for narrative filmmaking. The budding director also utilized local resources when casting on-camera talent by partnering with Pastorini and Bosby Talent Agency in Houston, Texas. LaMark credits Pastorini and Bobby for having some of the finest talent in the area and for being easy collaborative partners.

“What started as a dream has grown into a reality beyond anything I imagined. To everyone who answered my calls and supported this film—you have my deepest gratitude. I couldn’t have done this without you.” - Christopher LaMark
